We are continuing to find good fishing in the Asheville area! Trout fishing on the tailwaters has been the best thing going. Both the Watauga and South Holston Rivers are providing lots of action for rainbow and brown trout. Bugs are hatching and the trout are eating em on the surface during the afternoon hours. Blue winged olives and Sulpher mayflies are best on sunny days during the water releases from the dams. Smallmouth fishing on the French Broad has started to get good again. The surface bite is on and will stay on! Poppers in the slack spawning areas will trigger an aggressive strike if you can keep your fly in the strike zone.
